Aerial View

The aerial overview shows Old Down as it was in 2006 shortly after most of the new tree planting had taken place (image print taken 2010).

You can see how paths have been formed as people use the area. This is only to be expected but if we want wildflowers to establish

we must take care where we walk to give them a chance to grow. We have fenced off some small areas for seeding. Once the areas

are well established the intention is to remove the fencing. It is interesting to note where the chalk has been exposed in places.

Grass grows less vigorously here so the wild flowers do better, but rabbits too browse the grasses and plants.
